She then finds out her family is descendants of a Vampire race, from a Lacal who she inexplicably drawn to whenever he is near. It’s Lacal's job to retrieve Alexa & bring her back to accept her new life. Will she run away from their bond or will she return with him & accept her title as Vampire Queen?

My 3 Star Review!!

We meet Alexa, a young woman in horrible pain daily from life altering disease.  Alexa finds herself completely alone after her Nana disappears just the same as her parents did a year prior.  She pushed her friends away when she found out about her disease including her best friend Jazz.  One phone call from Jazz with an invitation to her birthday party changes Alexa’s life forever.  Ending up in Jazz’s house filled with people who only mock her and talk badly about her, Alexa decides to leave, until a mysterious man takes one look at her and she is done for.  Alexa finds out she is a long descendant from the very first vampire queen, and she is the next in line. I liked this book.  It is a different type of paranormal book than I have ever read before.  It was really hard to read some of the scenes with Alexa, because I felt her emotions as I was reading.  This book was solid and I was happy with the decision to read it.  I am excited for the next installments. ~Mags

Alexa is now on the hunt to save her friend. She must accept the help of the Rasmiyah, the mother of her people. But the guidance given to her will not be enough. Will Alexa learn to believe in herself and trust in her abilities?

***This is the second book in the series and WILL contain spoilers from book one.  We suggest reading book one prior to reading this review***

My 4 Star Review!! After finding herself in the 7-19 and finding out her best friend has been taken by Lacal’s ex, Alexa must find the strength and courage to face the unknown and find Jazz.  Alexa connects with Rasmiyah, the creator of her people, to connect with all the previous queens, in attempt to gain the knowledge she will need to find Jazz and figure out how to defeat the darkness. This is the second book in the series, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much more I liked this book over the first one.  The connection between Lacal and Alexa grows so much in this book.  Jessica really does a great job at showing the feeling between Lacal and Alexa.  I felt their connection and it was a really great experience.  The Guidance of Rasmiyah is defiantly more action packed than the first, and had me on the edge for the next one. ~Mags

The queen is trapped inside her own mind, her Serve has been captured by Darkness, and the Navare are launching an attack in just a matter of days. Lamar and Layal must lead the vampire masses in a battle against evil. It won't be an easy task. The Navare are nasty beasts, vampires given in to the call of Darkness. They have strength in numbers, a leader who is spiritually connected to their once queen Alecia, and a ton of twisted demons on their side. For the vampires, its either find a way to wake Alexa or stand and fight. Which path should they choose when either may lead to their demise?

My 4 Star Review!! After Alexa saved Layla, Lamar, Nana, and Jazz, she shuts down emotionally and physically, locked away in her mind.  She saw her serve, Lacal, get beat and taken by the Navare.  While Alexa is locked away, the world around her is going insane.  Jazz finds out important information about who she is and the entire vampire race is preparing for the attack from the Darkness and the Navare. I was once again sucked into this series.  Jessica has a way of making thigns around you disappear until it feels like you are literally standing in the temple with the rest of the vamps.  I liked finding out more about the other characters, instead of just Alexa, yet at the same time we learned so much about Alexa too.  She really is strong and worthy of her title.  To have her soul mate taken from her and there be nothing she could do for him would break anyone, but Alexa stayed strong and fought in the end.  The only negative thing I would have to say about this book is the switching between characters POV’s without prior knowledge.  One minute it would be in Jazz’s pov and then the next it would be an entire different character.  Sometimes I felt a tab bit confused, before figuring it out.  Jessica once again left it with a cliffhanger that makes me want to count down the days until the next one comes out.  Overall it is a great YA paranormal series.
