K.A Robinson

Shattered Ties, Twisted Ties, Tainted, Breaking Alexandria, Toxic: Logan's Story

With a former supermodel mother and a rock-and-roll legend father, Emma Preston has the best of everything. Nothing is as perfect as it seems though. After her parents divorce, she’s forced to live with her mother in a private Santa Monica community. Ignoring their parental roles, her mother becomes more focused on climbing the social ladder while her father is off on tour.

Growing up in a trailer park with his mother, Jesse is used to people looking down on him. When his mother begs him to submit an application for a scholarship to one of Santa Monica’s top private schools, he never expects to actually get it. When he does, he is forced to attend school with a bunch of rich kids. He ignores their stares as they judge him for having tattoos and a less than impressive car. As long as he has his surfboard and the guys at the tattoo shop, he knows he can make it through.

When Jesse shows up on the first day of school, Emma can’t help but be intrigued. Her mother would never approve of Emma talking to someone so poor, but she doesn’t care because something about Jesse draws her to him.

Jesse tries to hate Emma, but he discovers that he can’t resist her. Forced to hide their relationship from Emma’s mother and everyone else around them, things start to fall apart. When Jesse’s friend, Ally, decides to interfere, things go from bad to worse.

Can they survive their first love? Or will they be left with nothing more than shattered ties?

Book 1 of a 2 book series.

Manda's 4 Star Review:

Emma Preston has always had everything. Being raised by a mom that only appreciates money and status, she was raised to look down on anyone who doesn't have it. As she got older Emma realized the error in that thinking and began to resent her mother. On the first day of school her junior year she meets Jessie and she can't help but be drawn too this tattoo covered boy from the wrong side of town.
After growing up on the poor side of town, Jessie learned at a young age that those who had money looked down on those who didn't. When his mother encourages him to take a scholarship to a private school he agrees to make her happy. Jessie expects to be treated differently and is prepared to just get through it for his mom. When he meets Emma he tries to hate her, but she turns out to be more than he expected. As the two become closer it becomes harder and harder to navigate their relationship. He will never fit in with her crowd and one of his closest friend will never accept her. After a fight and interference from a jealous friend things take an even more complicated turn.

Shattered Ties is a story about overcoming what is expected and following your heart. Just because you are raised a certain way doesn't mean you have to become that person. I really liked this book and cannot wait for the next one. I loved the characters and the connection they shared with one another. Even though their first meeting did make me a little teary eyed. The book was very short and felt a bit rushed to me especially at the end. I think that had to do with me not wanting it to end. That has no effect on how much I loved the book and how excited I am for the next one. Definitely a must read!

My 5 Star Review!!

An epic young love!!

Shattered Ties is a new age version of Romeo and Juliet. Emma was raised to look down at anyone who wasn’t rich or of a certain social status, but as she grew up she realized how horrible that ideology was. Jessie was the poor kid covered in tattoos from the wrong side of town. After a twist of fate Jessie and Emma found themselves in a forbidden relationship that pushed and pulled these 17 year olds into completely different directions than they ever saw themselves going.

I was drawn into this book from the prologue and couldn’t put it down!! Jessie is fearless, strong willed, and extremely lovable. Emma has her flaws, but don’t most of us? She is a terrific teenage heroine, who fights to figure herself out and blossom into who she is meant to be. Emma and Jessie’s story is filled with ups and downs, tears and laughs, but most importantly epic love. Have you ever met someone and just connected? Felt like you knew them your entire life, even though you just met them? Well, I have and I believe that helped me understand why this book just jumps feet first into such an amazing young love. This book was my favorite of K.A Robinson thus far!! I need not want Shattered Ties 2 like now, and I strongly recommend this book to absolutely everyone!!

Will Drake’s fame get in the way of their happily ever after? Or is love enough to keep them together?

The epic conclusion to Drake and Chloe’s story.

Manda's 4 Star Review:

What a great conclusion to this fantastic story. Tainted is an emotional journey through what happens after Chloe leaves Drake on the tour bus. Feeling lost without Chloe by his side, Drake falls further and further into his drug habit and hits rock bottom before being forced to face his demons. Knowing the only way back is to face everything he has kept buried, Drake is determined to stay clean and win back the woman he loves.

After having no choice but to leave the man she loves, Chloe is heartbroken. For months she waits for Drake to come for her, but as more time passes she begins to realize he isn't coming. Her friends try to get her to move on, but she struggles with the thought of moving on without him. Then he shows up at her door begging her to hear him out. Unable to turn him away, Chloe wants to take things slow and get to know one another all over again. Knowing the temptations being famous will bring, Chloe must learn to trust again, and Drake must earn that trust if they hope to start over.

I love this series and the characters K.A Robinson has created. She is an amazing writer, who has the ability to created amazing stories you can't put down. This is an amazing conclusion to a wonderful series. I hate when I get to the end of a series I love. I'm happy to know how it ends but sad to let the characters go. This is a great read and a fantastic series that I highly recommend! Fantastic job K.A Robinson you are awesome!

Two years ago, Emma Preston walked away from Jesse Daniels. It is a decision she has regretted ever since. Plagued with the knowledge that Ally’s lies tore them apart, Emma enlists Jesse’s former best friend, Andy, to help her search for him.

When he left California, Jesse was determined to start over in West Virginia with his mother. Now, the past is determined to catch up with him—first, with the appearance of Ally, and when Emma and Andy come back into his life.

Just when Emma thinks she’s found Jesse, a dark secret and misunderstandings force them apart before they can even reconnect. Jesse is torn between his love for Emma and protecting his childhood friend, Ally. Ally has an agenda of her own, and she’s not about to let Emma get in her way—even if that means getting rid of her…permanently.

Can Emma and Jesse’s relationship survive all of their twisted ties?

Mag's 4 Star Review:

A heart pounding excellent conclusion to the story! Completely grabbed my attention from the very first page!

After coming from different sides of town and overcoming so many obstacles, Emma thought she would be with Jessie forever until one fight left them destroyed. Emma was completely heart broken after seeing the only love of her life in bed with another girl. Then when Jessie picks up and moves across the country Emma finds the only way she can to pick up the pieces of her life and move on. Or try to move on.

Emma has lived her life for two years, but hasn’t truly felt alive since the day she walked out on Jessie. After finishing high school, Emma gets accepted to college and moves to West Virginia with Andy in hopes of finding Jessie and rekindling their love. Jessie’s world was completely turned upside down that fateful morning when he woke up to find Ally in his bed and Emma staring at them. Jessie not only lost his girl but also lost his best friend that day, so he ran. He picked up and moved with him mom and hasn’t stopped loving Emma since the day he left.

I absolutely loved this series! Book one completely sucked me in and I was counting down the days until I was able to read book two. Emma and Jessie are such an amazing couple. You can feel the love between the two and the hurt. I was so connected with these characters that my heart felt like it was breaking a little during this book. Emma and Jessie have to jump through SO many hurtles again in this book! The only thing I didn’t like was that Emma felt weaker in this book. I felt like she relied a little too much on Andy and wasn’t as strong as she was in book one. Over all, I absolutely loved this series and would strongly recommend it to everyone!

Manda's 4 Star Review:

Emma Preston's heart was broken, after finding the only boy she ever loved in bed with a girl she disliked more than anyone. It isn't until after Jesse moves to West Virginia and out of her life that she finds out it was all a terrible misunderstanding. Now 2 years later Emma is determined to find the only man she has ever loved. The only problem is she has no idea where he is. Taking a huge chance Emma moves to West Virginia for college along with Jesse's best friend to try and find him and set things right. The only problem is Ally seems to be one step ahead of them and has a plan of her own for Jesse. As Emma fights for Jesse she finds herself also fighting a much more dangerous opponent that could cost her everything.

Wow what an amazing conclusion to one of my favorite stories by K.A Robinson. So much happens in this book! I could not put this book down. I was pulled back into the story from the first page and didn't come up for air until the last. I love Jesse and Emma together and was heartbroken at the end of book one. I could not wait until this one came out so I could find out what happened. The twists in the book are fantastic and will keep you guessing. Not at all what I expected when I started it. Great job K.A on another amazing book. Definitely a must read!!

Alexandria’s drug-dealing boyfriend, Joel, isn’t exactly the white knight she’s always dreamed of, but she can’t deny the crazy connection they have. She would do anything for him, including helping him sell drugs in order to fit perfectly into his world.

After catching Alexandria dealing for Joel, instead of turning her into the cops, Alexandria’s mother forces her to move to her grandparents’ farm in West Virginia. Spending the summer in the country, away from Joel, is the last thing Alexandria wants to do. But lucky for her, the sexy farmhand, Landon, who helps out around her grandparents’ place, is a very nice distraction. She tries her best to ignore her attraction to him, especially since she still loves Joel.

When Joel does the unforgivable, Alexandria turns to her new friend, Landon, for comfort, and it ignites an undeniable spark of attraction between them. Soon, she finds herself caught between two very different men, and the struggles within her heart just might end up breaking Alexandria.

Mag's 4 Star Review:

Alexandria is in a relationship with Joel, who is much older than her and sells drugs for a living. Lexi has centered her whole world on Joel and either relationship even to the point of helping him sell drugs. After getting caught red handed dealing drugs, Lexi is forced to leave her whole world and everything she knows to spend the summer on her grandparents farm, or watch her boyfriend be turned into the police. Lex goes to her grandparents hoping to fulfill her summer sentence then return back to Joel and the life they had together, only fate doesn’t always work out the way you want it to.

Lexi finds herself being drawn more and more to the farm hand that works for her grandparents: Landon. He is every thing Joel isn’t; charming, sweet, kind, and a hard worker. After Lexi gets her heart smashed to pieces Logan is there to hold her up, but then another unpredictable thing occurs sending Lexi in a tailspin no one can save her from.

I really enjoyed this book once I got past my dislike for Lexi. Lexi is the ideal image of a teenage girl trying to change herself for the boy and having a hard time figuring out who she really is. Lexi grows and changes so much during the process of this book, and she eventually grows on me in the end. Logan is a great character. He is there for Lexi even when she doesn’t want him to be. He is steadfast and so loving. The book did seem to be a tad bit predictable though, but it still had its own characteristics that made it a great book.

Manda's 4 Star Review:

Alexandria loves her boyfriend Joel and would do anything for him. Including spending the summer on her grandparents farm to keep him out of jail. After being caught selling drugs for her boyfriend, her parents make a deal with her. They wont turn her and Joel in, if she agrees to stay away from him for the summer and help on her grandparents farm. Alexandria agrees even though she knows it will kill her to do. When she arrives she meets Landon, the attractive farmhand who is there to make sure she does her chores and stays out of trouble. Even though she fights it, she can't help feeling a connection to Landon and they become good friends. He is there for her when Joel does the unforgivable and tries to be there for her when tragedy strikes. Alexandria is forced to find herself and choose between the girl she has become and the girl she was before.

Breaking Alexandria is a fantastic book about growing up and finding yourself. The characters are well written and are easy to get in to. K.A Robinson is a wonderful author and I really love reading the stories she creates. I found it difficult to put this book down and really loved the characters (even Joel). A good book that I definitely recommend. Great job again K.A Robinson and I cannot wait for your next adventure.

***Toxic: Logan's Story is Book Four of the Torn Series, but it can be read as a standalone if desired.***

Sometimes, you find true love with the person you never least expect. Can Logan and Jade heal each other? Or will they forever be changed by their toxic pasts?

Manda's 4 Star Review:

After having his heart broken by his best friend Chloe, Logan finds himself struggling to pull himself together. Angry and bitter Logan starts partying and sleeping with random women in an attempt to move on from Chloe. He still loves her and probably always will but vows never to let anyone else in. Unable to cut Chloe completely out of his life he stands by as her friend and watches her get her happily ever after. Noticing Logan is struggling Jade, the drummer from Breaking the Hunger decides to step in and be the friend he needs. After the band makes it big Jade decides to go home and prove to everyone that she made it. This will be a tough trip for Jade and she needs Logan's support. As the two set off for this journey they find something in each other that brings their friendship closer, but challenges stand in their way that could destroy their friendship forever.

I loved reading Logan's story. He was one of my favorites from the beginning and I couldn't wait to find out where his story would lead. I love the characters and stories that K.A Robinson creates. She always does such a great job of pulling you into the story and making you love her creations. This book is no different. Jade and Logan are amazing and the journey they take together will pull you in from the beginning. Experiencing the heartbreak Logan goes thru when his girlfriend/best friend falls in love with someone else and the unexpected friend who comes forth to pull him out of his misery makes for a fantastic story. Great job K.A. Robinson on another fantastic story. Can't wait to read what you have for us next!!
